Get good grades. Go to college. Get a good job. What do you do when you’re tired of doing what you’re supposed to do? You fucking quit. After spending a handful of years dicking around in other bands and a few too many hours toiling away in a cubicle, EG Vines did just that–embarking on a full-time project that was truly personal. “The powers that be continue to package fear and hate and sell it to us. Well, I’m not buying it anymore. Are you?” Vines continues, “I’ve seen too many friends fail to pursue their dreams and I want to be proof that it just takes determination to take a leap of faith, no matter your age or situation.”

Driven by the need to both perpetually create and process the ills of the world through music, Vines knew he had to do something different. “I wanted to create something that builds community. Recognizing that when we take time to look at the world from new perspectives, we can rise together.” Channeling the melodic alt-rock of the 90s paired with the high energy aura of the punk scene, EG Vines brings the audience a lyric-forward offering that is simultaneously captivating, dynamic, and thought-provoking. He released his first full-length record in 2019, the roots rock labeled Family Business, followed by the atmospheric alt rock/indie Through the Mirror in 2021 earning attention from NPR, Rolling Stone, and Billboard while playing 100+ dates from Texas to New England.

Not content to recreate the sounds of previous records, Vines continues to let the craft guide him into new sonic territory on the upcoming LP, Dance Moves. With echoes of a wide range of influences from Radiohead, Weezer, and Stone Temple Pilots to the sounds and stylings of the 1980s Paisley Underground, his latest record offers the listener an energetic, rock-forward sound without losing substance–his signature lyrical style still imploring you to see beyond the surface.

Vines and his band opted to go full DIY for their upcoming record, Dance Moves, taking an art-centric method to recording. Disheartened by the seemingly continuous progression of the mainstream music industry into one homogeneous mass, Vines used the opportunity to take a more exploratory approach, experimenting with sounds and recording techniques along the way. This provided a raw, artistic freedom allowing Vines and band members Ben Cunningham and John Rodrigue to create in the room, letting the songs become the best version of themselves–industry expectations and genres be damned. Fully recorded, produced, and mixed by Vines and bassist Ben Cunningham at Birdtooth Labs in East Nashville, the resulting album is a fully-realized vision for Vines.

Fans can expect to see a big 2023 from the band, with festival appearances and headline shows across the south, midwest, and east coast offering plenty of opportunities to catch their dynamic set live.
